Consultant Spotlight: Sean Giblin, Senior Strategic Consultant

What do classic cars, strategic planning, and Irish bagpipe music have in common? They’re all passions of Sean Giblin, a Senior Strategic Consultant with more than 20 years of experience in financial modeling, planning, operations, and change management.

These varied interests are indicative of Sean’s unique approach to projects; he excels at diving into complex challenges and finding the common threads to create a coherent strategy. He is known for being able to bridge big-picture goals with actionable solutions. “I embrace change,” he says. “In financial services, technology, and other rapidly evolving verticals, it is inevitable and often the appropriate response to new challenges.”

This ability to see the big picture and execute on the details is evident in projects such as establishing a sustainable and compliant operating model for a U.S.-based broker/dealer doing business outside the U.S. He was able to provide guidance to key stakeholders and leadership to each of the workstream leads. “The key is transparency. You have to help everyone toward the common goal regardless of where they sit,” says Sean. He developed the project charter and an operating framework and formed an executive steering committee. These foundational pieces ensured completely compliant processes and enhanced client-experience interactions.

Sean’s appreciation of unique models extends to his hobbies. A lover of classic cars, he frequents classic car shows and is the proud owner of both a 1965 VW Bug with the inherited name of “Midnight Outlaw” and a 1977 VW Bus called “The Root Beer Float.” And of course he is in a band — the Shannon Rovers Irish Pipe Band, where Sean plays bass and snare drums. Even if you haven’t heard of them, several U.S. and Irish presidents have!

Sean values strong connections with family and friends. With two teenage daughters, his ability to remain steady as he manages change comes in handy on a daily basis. It’s also part of why he is a good fit with Collabry, a company that thrives on interconnection and community. Another parallel is an appreciation for lifelong learning; Sean is a member of FINRA, the Project Management Institute, Lean Change, and the International Institute of Business Analysis (IIBA)

Do you have a project that starts at strategy and ends past execution? Could it benefit from built-in sustainable and compliant practices? Is it essential that all team members are brought along with care and clarity? That’s Sean’s wheelhouse. Let’s talk.
